On October 10 – 14, the leading researcher from ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Prototyping of Electronic and Photonic Devices, Dr.sc.ing. Roberts Rimša represented CAMART2 and project funded by the Latvian Council of Science Microfluidic field flow fractionation for high throughput extra-cellular vesicle separation in a poster presentation and paper “Towards extracellular vesicle-friendly microfluidic devices” at the 25th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Sciences (µTAS 2021). The research is carried out in collaboration with the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre (BMC).
Roberts Rimša reports that the poster presentation resulted in multiple fruitful potential collaboration discussions with scientists from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of California, Berkley, University of California, Santa Barbara and other academic institutions, which might lead to a future joint effort in the form of grant proposals. µTAS 2021 is widely regarded as the most prestigious academic conference in the field of microfluidics with speaker acceptance rates in low single digits.
The research project will also be presented during “Tune in to Science!” program taking place during the Science Days 2021.
µTAS 2021 continues an international Conference series that is the premier forum for reporting research results in microfluidics, microfabrication, nanotechnology, integration, materials and surfaces, analysis and synthesis, and detection technologies for the life sciences and chemistry.
