New collaboration opportunities from SPIE Photonics West

Each year a powerful gathering of the most prestigious research and informative presentations across the industry takes place during the SPIE Photonics West. These important communities come together at the event to share and discuss their current research, hear the latest breakthroughs, connect with colleagues, and find innovative products.

This year’s SPIE Photonics West conference and exhibitions took place from January 25 to January 27 in San Francisco, USA. ISSP UL was represented at the event by the head of the Materize sales unit Olga Bogdanova and researcher from ISSP UL’s Laboratory of Materials for Energy Harvesting and Investigation Ainars Knoks. In addition to attending conference talks, ISSP UL’s representatives participated in the industrial exhibition to investigate current cutting-edge trends in areas of photonics and thin films as well as scout and gather contacts for possible future projects.

During the exhibition, a list of companies was visited, and mutual interests were discussed. Almost 50 contacts were established and nine of them were promising – showing real interest regarding capabilities of ISSP UL in thin-film technologies, optical coatings, materials for photonics, as well as general knowledge and expertise of ISSP UL including possible future collaboration in projects and scientific research. The themes of discussions with the addressed companies revolved around ISSP UL’s technologies such as gallium oxide coating production and ISSP UL’s infrastructure opportunities such as cleanroom facilities.

General interest in the abilities of ISSP was shown by most of the companies that were spoken to, but more specifically, 14 companies showed interest in collaboration and possible joint projects.
